The Unknown

Burial near a Roman Villa discovered at Bradford on Avon 2004

They buried him young,

They buried him at the edge.

They severed his sparse-toothed head

From his slender frame and

Thrust it between his legs;

Buried him

Without dignity

In isolation

In disgrace

In this shallow grave

With no provision for

A journey to the

Next world

No precious belongings

No status

No ceremony

No-one
